10oz- bag/pad work
12oz- bag/pad work
14oz- general training/light sparring
16oz- general training/moderate to heavy sparring

Many people will own two pairs of gloves: a 10oz or 12oz for bag/pad work and a 14oz or 16oz for sparring. Many beginners just have one pair of gloves to start with, we recommend you choose a 14oz or a 16oz as these offer more protection when sparring.
